A TREAT FOR THE EYES AND MIND.
Explore the curiously sensual world of fetish fashion
in a striking collection of intimate portraits
San Francisco, CA - March 19th, 2002 - Head to San Francisco's Folsom Street Fair, to one of New York's many S/M restaurants, or even to a viewing of Moulin Rouge and one thing becomes clear - the corset is making a comeback. Whether worn by society brides in elaborate, fantasy gowns or by fetish enthusiasts, the corset commands attention.
But why wear a piece of clothing that restricts movement, can be uncomfortable, and is certainly not worn en masse? Fetish Fashion: Undressing the Corset exposes the many reasons people still love to wear them as a fetish accessory and form of sexual expression.
Fetish Fashion: Undressing the Corset offers fetish and fashion enthusiasts of all ages a treat for the eyes and mind. The book blends fashion and eroticism in 108 intimate portraits of corsets and the devotees who wear them. An introduction by renowned corset maker and owner of Dark Garden, Autumn Carey-Adamme, provides a history of the undergarment and insight into why it continues to fascinate.
Used to mold and alter the form, corsets seem to transform both the body, and mind. In Fetish Fashion: Undressing the Corset, the models exude a feeling of comfort and control, highlighting the provocative, sensual, and fun aspects of this undergarment. The book explores the power of the corset and effect on its wearers.
Photographer Larry Utley's creative use of shape, shadow, light, and texture teases the eye. In addition, some of the photographs have been combined with digital media to create unique visually striking images. Readers will have fun exploring the "nonrestrictive" aspects of corsets by peering inside this curiously sensual world.
This book will appeal to those who are in the scene, those who love the fashion, and those who are just curious.
The Photographer:
Larry Utley is a California-based artist and photographer. Larry's interest in shooting corsets began when he started to notice them being worn in more "creative" ways around San Francisco. Although Larry is a formally trained photographer, he does not consider himself a purist and enjoys working with today's digital accessories. After taking a break from photography to pursue a career in advertising and graphic design, Larry decided to return to the art a few years ago in order to satisfy his spirit. Creating art through photography allows him to do just that.
